We demand maximum penalty for a so-called Greek shepherd
who systematically neglected his dog,
brutally beat him and gouged out his eyes
This case involves a so-called shepherd who had systematically neglected his dogs to the point where a concerned animal worker was trying to support them herself. She found his dog who had been left severely injured and suffering immense pain and still bleeding when she went to attend to it. She rushed the animal to the nearest vet. Sadly, the dog was too badly injured to save – apart from being battered about its head, horrifically, both of its eyes had been prised out !!!!
The so-called shepherd was arrested on NOVEMBER 5th 2010 he appeared at a hearing and claimed that the dog had eaten a chicken – his brutal attack - was punishment!
Astoundingly the public prosecutor accepted this – she, it seems, found this acceptable !!!
The so-called shepherd learned NOTHING. He - arrogant and victorious - immediately chained a newly acquired puppy in the same place where previously he had battered and brutalized his neglected dog.
A great deal of protest followed and was successful in taking the case further. However, on successive occasions and for various reasons, all previous hearings have been postponed .
The final court hearing is due to take place on 13th February 2012 - 15 months on from when first reported.
The trial set for Monday, February 13, 2012 has been postponed again due to a strike of the lawyers in Greece.
