A Thousand Tears fall for Luana...
a Life taken too soon!
August 17, 2014 - In the small quiet hours of last night, a fragile candle flame flickered and was extinguished. A light was taken from the world. But this flame was different. The warmth which it radiated, far transcended its simple luminescence. Its glow reached into corners where darkness had always lived. Its warmth touched all who came near. The warmth of compassion embraced all within its radiance.
Luana was only 27 years old. She loved animals so dearly that she had decided to dedicate her entire life to them.
Luana became a veterinarian, a wonderful vet that has dedicated all her time and put all her soul into helping animals in need, has participated in numerous stray animals' sterilization campaigns, volunteered for months to care for the wild horses in the Danube Delta and helped hundreds of animals in need without ever asking for compensation.
A few days before opening her own veterinary clinic, she went to the room where she planned to heal animals, smelled thinner, tried to open a fan to remove the smell in the room, but the gesture was fatal. A flame lit on fire and burned Luana on 90 % of her body.
It has been shown that in Europe such severity of injury only has a survival rate of 0% or 0,1% - if proper treatment, surgery and a sterile environment is provided. Nevertheless, after spending 3 days in induced coma, helped to breathe by machines, Luana showed the doctors that she was one of the 0,1% fighters. She started breathing on her own and gained full consciousness, which amazed the doctors who considered it to be a miracle.
Family and friends managed to get in contact with the clinics abroad that can provide the best care and the sterile room she needed in order to survive and they had arranged everything.
She was then transferred to the AKH hospital in Vienna, where she would receive the best possible treatments available in Europe. For that, her family had to borrow 165.000 Euro to pay for her flight and the first weeks of treatment as the Romanian health insurance does not pay for fees abroad. Compassionate people from all over Europe and the world came together on FB, raised money, organized auctions and even street markets to help cover the fees.
However last night, Luana's body surrendered to the pain and trauma... and she left us.
Now the flame has gone but its warmth still remains, and many who were held within its embrace will have a new belief this morning... a new feeling of compassion, of love for a special human being.
They will know that whilst all things pass, the power of love is transcendent. Love and compassion for all living creatures is the unbreakable bond. And although the visible flame may fade away, the power of love is eternal.... and even death has no dominion.
Thank you, Luana, for being among us and leaving the power of your love wherever you walked. You will be in our hearts forever and always, dear Luana.
And this night, in the darkness, across our world, a thousand tears will glisten. Bonded as a fellowship of loss and outrage for a life unfulfilled and gone too soon. Gone... much too soon!
Now Luana will be laid to rest for the final time. Luana’s flame will have lit many new flames within her land of Romania where sometimes compassion is hidden.
If you can, please, express your support for her bereaved family by helping them to say a final ‘goodbye’ and our ‘thank you’ for a very special and unique Lady by making a donation to her fund, aiding her family to pay for her medical treatment.
Thank you very much, in advance!
